FOX's Broadchurch remake has added some color to its mostly white cast.

Michael Peña (Crash, End of Watch) has joined Gracepoint, FOX’s upcoming adaptation of the critically-acclaimed British drama, Broadchurch.

Peña will play series regular Mark Lasseter, the father of the 11-year-old boy whose murder provides the mystery of the series. He joins a cast that includes David Tennant, who is returning to reprise his role as the lead investigator on the case, although his character has been renamed from Detective Inspector Alec Hardy to Detective Emmett Carver. Joining him is Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn as Det. Ellie Miller, a role that won critical acclaim for Olivia Colman in the British original. Also in the cast is American Horror Story alum Josh Hamilton as Joe Miller, Ellie's husband; Gossip Girl star Kevin Zegers; and Oscar-nominated, Silver Linings Playbook star Jacki Weaver.

The series pilot will be written by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall, and the series is expected to run on a limited basis, with the first season consisting of between 10-13 episodes.

Gracepoint will premiere in 2014.
