Michael Johns - Hold Back My Heart - Available Now

Michael Johns' CD "Hold Back My Heart" is available now.

Michael has one cover on this album: "Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees -- and unfortunately that threw me off because he sounds like he is covering almost every song here. Maybe it was the oldies sound - if it sounds like it was from the 70's, it must be cover, right?

As much as I loved "It's All Wrong But It's All Right" on his run on American Idol and appreciate that he has taken his bluesy sound to heart with this album -- what was the point of singing "Dream On", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Will Rock You" and all those other rock songs on Idol? Because he can? Doesn't make sense if his intent all along was to deliver this throwback blues record.

The one song that stands out as current for me is "Heart on My Sleeve". If most of the songs sounded like that, then I would have liked this CD more.
