Men's & Women's BMX - London 2012 Olympics - Results
Brooke Crain and Conner Fields competed for the United States in the Men's and Women's BMX events at the London 2012 Olympics.
Here are your medal results:
BMX racing, like snowboarding in the winter games, is one of the "extreme" sports that has migrated into the world of Olympic sports in recent years. The BMX races are contested on a track that is littered with obstacles such as hills (rhythm sections), banks and jumps. Crashes happen pretty frequently and there have been several injuries on the way to these finals.
The women's race was fairly uneventful, with the top three riders pulling away from the field and winning by a pretty fair margin. In the men's race, medal hopeful Liam Phillips of Team GB was involved in a crash, which ended his hopes for a podium finish.
Neither American rider factored into the medal hunt, finishing 8th in the women's and 7th in the men's event.
Women's Results:
Gold: Mariana Pajon - Colombia
Silver: Sarah Walker - New Zealand
Bronze: Laura Smulders - Netherlands

Men's Results:
Gold: Maris Strombergs - Latvia
Silver: Sam Willoughby - Australia
Bronze: Carlos Mario Oquedo Zabala - Colombia
Congratulations to all the medalists!
