Men's Team Pursuit - London 2012 Olympics - Medal Results
Team GB faced off against arch rival Australia on the track today in the Men's Team Pursuit at the London 2012 Olympics. Read on for race details and medal results.
In the team pursuit, teams of four riders start off on opposite ends of the track and attempt to overtake each other by finding the fastest line around the track and best utilizing the draft created by riding closely in single file. Periodically the lead rider will peal off and move to the back of the pack, so that they are constantly switching which rider is doing the hardest work.
This race was neck and neck in the early going, but once Australia lost their fourth rider, Team GB pulled out to a commanding lead and never looked back. The Brits won the gold in convincing fashion and smashed their own world record. New Zealand defeated Russia to take the bronze.
