Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol - London 2012 Olympics - Medal Results
If the big guns aren't your thing, then perhaps the Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol is the event for you. The event was contested this morning at the London 2012 Olympics. Read on for your medal results.
In the rapid fire pistol event, the contestants are once again shooting at paper targets. As the name of the event suggests, they must fire their five shots in rapid succession, as the targets will be turned away when their shooting time is up. Due to the rapid pace, there are a lot more misses in this event than the other shooting events I have watched, but their skill level is still pretty impressive. To add bit of interest, one shooter is eliminated from the contest after each round of shots until only two men remain to battle it out for gold.
Alexi Klimov was a favorite going in, due to the world record he set in qualifications, but in this event the scores are wiped clean for the final and he was eliminated in a disappointing fourth place. Going into the final round Pupo had a two shot lead over Kumar. Pupo hit four out of five shots, locking up the gold medal and tying the world record. Kumar would claim the silver.
Results:
Gold: Leuris Pupo - Cuba
Silver: Vijay Kumar - India
Bronze: Ding Feng - China
Congratulations to all the medalists!
