Swimming - Men's 10k Marathon - London 2012 Olympics - Results
It was the men's turn to take to the lake at Hyde Park for the Men's 10k Marathon open water swim at the London 2012 Olympics.
Here are your medal results:
Much like in the women's race, there were plenty of shots of ducks unconcernedly floating in the path of the swimmers, slow motion shots of people drinking and almost two hours worth of a grueling swimming competition.
The main pack of swimmers seemed to hold together longer in the men's race than in the women's, but during the fifth of six laps, a small break away group emerged. They distanced themselves from the pack in the sixth and final lap. Eventual winner Oussama Mellouli of Tunisia separated himself from the breakaway group in the final lap and won the race by a pretty impressive margin. All 25 men who started the race completed it, which is an accomplishment in and of itself.
The lone American in the race, Alex Meyer, finished in tenth place.
Results:
Gold: Oussama Mellouli - Tunisia
Silver: Thomas Lurz - Germany
Bronze: Richard Weinberger - Canada
Congratulations to all the medal winners!
