Although Meg Ryan got her start on As the World Turns before transitioning into films, she has rarely been seen on TV since then, save for the odd guest appearance on shows like Web Therapy or Curb Your Enthusiasm. However, after decades on the silver screen, the actress is finally making her way back to television.

Ryan has reportedly landed the lead role in an upcoming, untitled NBC comedy pilot. The single-camera project, now being developed by NBC and Universal TV, would feature Ryan in the role of a "pleasant, dotty mom who finds herself working for her former intern at a New York publishing house." However, despite her good intentions in attempting to please both her new boss and her own teenage kids, in addition to handling her estranged husband and her mother-in-law, Ryan's character inevitably ends up making things worse.

Marc Lawrence (Miss Congeniality, Family Ties) will write the script and executive-produce alongside Ryan and her manager Jane Berliner.
