In response to rumors that he would be leaving the hit genre series at the end of 2013, Matt Smith has confirmed, in an interview with The Radio Times, that he will remain committed to Doctor Who for at least the next year. This would take him through the filming of season eight and into 2014. The star said he's taking the show on a year-by-year basis.
The Radio Times also went into detail about the eight upcoming episodes of the latter half of season 7, which returns this Saturday. This included confirming the titles of all the episodes, except the season finale:
The Bells of Saint John
The Rings of Akhaten
Cold War
Hide
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS
The Crimson Horror
Nightmare in Silver
As for that secretive season finale, to be scripted by showrunner Steven Moffat, it's rumored that several surprises are in store, from the possible return of River Song to other closely-guarded secrets. As Moffat states, “You’re about to learn something about the Doctor that you never knew before. And I think you’re in for a shock….”
Doctor Who returns this Saturday on BBC One in the UK, and on BBC America in the States.
