One sign that the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special may be the best thing ever is Steven Moffat's assurances that Matt Smith (Eleven) and David Tennant (Ten) got along so well that they wanted to both stay on the show together.
Be still our multiple Gallifeyan hearts.
According to the show-runner to Radio Times, the most-recent incarnations of the Doctor, "Got on like a couple of old women. They just say in the corner and gossiped the entire time."
"The double act between them is sublime. It’s one of those happy accidents – there’s no reason why they should be, but they are absolutely adorable and hilarious together."
So of course our new favorite bromance devised a way that they could both stay on the long-running BBC show even though a Twelfth Doctor has already been cast.
Revealed Moffat, "By the end of it, Matt told me that he’d worked out this plan that they’d both continue in Doctor Who: do five individual episodes each and three together – would that be ok? It was a nice plan. I think if I’d said yes they’d have gone for it."
Sadly he did not say yes and across time and space voices rose in unison, falling to their knees and shouting to the heavens, "MOFFAT!"
