Matt Damon Will Play Jason Bourne Again in 2016

Two months ago, rumors began to circulate that Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass would return to their most famous film project: The Bourne film franchise. As it turns out, the rumors were fact.

Matt Damon confirmed that he will return to play Jason Bourne once again. And Greengrass, who directed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, is along for the ride.

"It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out," Damon said in an interview with E! News. "Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."

No word on if this new Bourne movie will be the rumored team-up with Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross, the lead character in The Bourne Legacy, but much like Marvel movies, there's going to be an audience for this whether it's a team-up or not. Jason Bourne is one of Matt Damon's best roles, and it'll be interesting to see him potentially play the character as a slightly older, more grizzled warrior. Granted, this is mostly just wishful thinking on my part, but I'd love to see what Damon brings to the character now that several years have passed.

The movie isn't due til 2016, but I'm so there.
