Matt Cardle 'When We Collide' Becomes The Christmas No. 1
Matt Cardle: I can’t believe it, as if winning wasn’t enough. I honestly didn’t think I’d even make it on to the live shows, let alone win and now be the Christmas No.1. I can't even begin to describe how it feels. It's nuts, crackers and crazy. To think that many people have supported me and bought the record is absolutely mind blowing. Thank you so much to everyone. I’m going to have one or two beers to celebrate!”

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot says, "Congratulations to Matt Cardle on scoring this year's Christmas Number One. To sell 439,000 copies of When We Collide in just six days is a truly impressive achievement. Besides being a record for a non-charity single this year, it might even have been higher given the freezing conditions which have gripped the UK in the past couple of days and which have kept many consumers off the high streets. It is certain to sell even more over the next week, in the final days leading up to Christmas."
After four months of fevered anticipation and the most exciting and controversial series yet, Matt Cardle triumphed on Sunday night to win The X Factor 2010 in front of a record peak TV audience of 20 million viewers. Written and originally recorded by Scottish indie outfit Biffy Clyro, the mesmerising track was released straight after the show as a download and physically as a CD last Wednesday.
During the last four months Matt Cardle has enchanted audiences with his sublime timbre. Mentored by Dannii Minogue, his renditions of ‘You’ve Got The Love’, ‘Baby One More Time’ and ‘When Love Takes Over’‚ have helped him ensnare the imagination of millions. Now with a major recording deal with Syco Music/Sony, and a clear creative direction of his own, Matt will set to fashioning an album worthy of his unique talent.
