Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn't even premiered yet, but Marvel is already looking ahead to its next TV project -- a series they might actually be able to pair with the upcoming ABC drama.

Deadline reports that Marvel is looking into developing a TV series out of the “one shot” short film featured as an extra on the upcoming Iron Man 3 Blu-ray: Agent Carter. Directed by Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito, Agent Carter brings back Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), the love interest of Captain America from the feature film Captain America: The First Avenger. The short chronicles her life as a novice secret agent after Captain America is stranded in ice at the end of the first film.

The project is reportedly in "very early stages," and is merely one of several such projects in development at Marvel. The studio is currently searching for a writer to script the series. It's unclear at the moment whether Hayley Atwell would return to reprise her role as Carter.

The Iron Man 3 DVD with the Agent Carter short will hit store shelves next Tuesday, concurrently with the series premiere of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.. You can watch a clip from Agent Carter below via Marvel UK:
