Marvel Developing Five New Series for Cable, Video On Demand

With Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. proving successful, Marvel Studios is looking ahead to a long, industrious future in television.
Marvel is reportedly putting together a package of four drama series and a miniseries — a total of roughly 60 episodes across five new series. These new series would be shopped out to cable networks and video on demand services such as Netflix and Amazon.
There is already considerable interest from various digital platforms, as well as major cable networks. Marvel is already developing a potential TV series based on Agent Carter, a one-shot short film featured on the Blu-ray release of Iron Man 3. It is unclear whether Agent Carter is being developed exclusively for ABC or if the spy drama would be a part of this cable/VOD package.
Either way, Marvel will have its hands full, as a five-series, 60-episode commitment will be a considerable venture given that not a single frame has been filmed nor a single actor cast. But the Marvel brand is hotter than The Human Torch right now, so the studio is smart to take advantage of the buzz.
