Martina McBride's 'Everlasting' Hits #1
Martina McBride threw the music industry and fans a curve ball when she announced she would be releasing an album of soul and R&B covers a few months ago. The collection, which featured a variety of fairly well known Motown hits, dropped on April 1st, and instantly went to #1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.
What was cause for celebration about the chart positioning was that Martina is signed to her own independent label with Kobalt label services, and she is one of few women who have reached that spot in recent months. There's also the fact to consider that the record is not country, nor is it trying to be, so it's interesting that it sold more than its fellow "country" releases.
Either way, congrats to Martina!
