Mark Ballas and Katherine Jenkins Spend Time with Queen Elizabeth

Mark Ballas and his partner, Katherine Jenkins, may not have won the mirror ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars, but sometimes having the right dance partner brings opportunities.

A British subject, Jenkins invited Ballas to Saturday's Epsom Derby in Surrey, England, one of the many events to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee.

But there was a catch for the dancing pro who had to search last-minute for a top hat. That's right, a real top hat. As it turns out, it is tradition for men at the Derby to wear tails, also known in England as "morning jackets."

"I ended up finding one 10 minutes before the shop closed," Ballas said.

While Jenkins met the Queen, Ballas stood nearby, and he was impressed by the monarch.

"She looked amazing," he said. "She's just a super cute grandma!"
