Well, it looks like Mariah Carey's new album might not be providing the soundtrack for the summer after all. The singer has announced that she is delaying the release of her upcoming album, "The Art of Letting Go," indefinitely.
The album, originally scheduled to release on July 23, already has a successful single in the form of Carey's duet with Miguel, "#Beautiful". However, the album currently has no specified release date. In addressing the decision, the 43-year-old singer took to Twitter to discuss her reasons for holding off on releasing the much-anticipated album:
While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23.

I'd rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it's meant to be heard. When I'm ready, you'll be the first 2 know!

Though the album has been pushed back, Carey is still scheduled to perform at Sunday's 2013 BET Awards, which will feature performances Justin Timberlake, Ciara, India.Arie, Chris Brown, Miguel, R. Kelly, Kendrick Lamar and Carey's former American Idol rival Nicki Minaj.
