Maneepat Molloy Earns West Coast Save on 'Rising Star'

By Nick Roman ·

Maneepat Molloy has scored another week on Rising Star by earning the West Coast Save!

Last night's Top 8 performance show was a bit rough for Maneepat, who sang what expert Brad Paisley felt was a flat rendition of Elton John's "Your Song". With just 46% of the vote, Maneepat found herself in the hot seat, and it wasn't long before she was knocked out of the competition altogether following Shameia Crawford's take on Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper", which earned 54% of the vote. But Maneepat won the rematch, as she earned the West Coast Save over Crawford and April Lockhart, both of whom failed to be among the five high scorers at the end of the night.

Although Maneepat didn't have the best performance she could have delivered, I'm glad she's coming back next week, since I think she was just having an off night. Shameia arguably delivered the better vocal, and one could argue April is more likable, but I think Maneepat is a package artist with a lot more to offer the competition than we've seen. So I have no issues with this decision by the West Coast.

But what do you think? Should Shameia or April have gotten the save, or was Maneepat the right choice? Sound off in the comments!
