After rumors of a huge potential announcement from Warner Bros. at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 began circulate online, Man of Steel director Zack Snyder confirmed speculation: the sequel to Man of Steel will be a Batman/Superman film.

Snyder didn’t give away plot details, though he did get Man Of Steel actor Harry Lennix (General Swanwick) to read out a line from Frank Miller's legendary graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns.

“I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you,” read Lennix in his magisterial tone, recalling the line Batman says to Superman after handing the Man of Steel a humbling defeat during an all-out brawl between the two. The line suggests that the film, currently being written, will pit the two iconic superheroes against one another, although Snyder stated the line was hint, rather than a clear indicator of the direction the story would take.

After the reading, the lights went down and the logo (pictured above) appeared on the big screens, to the ecstatic cheers of the fans in attendance.

No news yet on whether Christian Bale will return, but the film is expected to reunite Dark Knight/Man of Steel scribe David S. Goyer with director Snyder.
