Make It Or Break It - Rock Bottom - Recap
Since finding out Lauren's dad is responsible for her scholarship, Emily's pride is kicked into overdrive. She gives back as much of the money as she can and in return her family loses their electricity. You would think she would put her pride on the back burner and accept help when it's offered. They need it. And isn't she breaking rules yet again by taking her old job back? Hmm. Her lack of confidence and power in her house is understandably making Emily desperate. When her brother forgets his medication and starts to have seizure symptoms, Emily steals his drugs from the pharmacy. Uhoh. That's not gonna end well. The cops show up to arrest Emily and all I can think of is how much that bail is gonna cost.
Lauren is the character I love to hate. It's hard to hate her as a character because she's just so evil and it keeps things interesting. Just don't mess with Payson, Lauren. She's my favorite so she's off limits. I kept thinking Lauren might try to be nicer to Chloe now that Chloe knows her secret but it looks like she's pissed off Chloe enough to warrant a little blackmail. Chloe tells Lauren that if she doesn't tell her dad the truth about her having sex, then she will. Lauren immediately looks for a way to worm out of that one and chooses to tell Summer. I love Summer's character but I have to admit, I laughed a little at how mad she got that Chloe knew Lauren was having sex. I'd be mad at Lauren if anyone. Summer tells Lauren's dad and the shiz hits the fan. Chloe is suddenly single and Lauren is somehow vindicated? Is this what she wanted? She's probably going to be grounded until she's 37.
Her backup plan was to get Summer back together with her dad. I worry now that Steve is single because I love the effect Summer has on Sasha. They're so cute together! Summer and Sasha are having a cute little dinner date at his trailer and Summer discovers Sasha has a book on Christianity. Hmm. I admit. That's pretty cute that he's looking into it for her. But I kind of cringed when she said grace. I cringed even more and had to literally cover my face when Payson crashed their dinner. So awkward! She shows up with a roasted chicken for Sasha and the look on his face is priceless. Poor Payson.
Kelly Parker isn't the only one noticing Kaylie's new problem. Add Austin to the list. He notices all the signs of Anorexia that Kaylie is giving off and makes it his mission to knock some sense into her. He invites her to a picnic lunch to test her. She figures out what he's doing, blows up at him and shoves a bit of chicken in her mouth. For one crazy moment I thought she was gonna hurl all over him. He opens up to her about his sister's scary eating disorder and hopes she'll change. Unfortunately at the end of the episode, Kaylie is back on the treadmill working off that bite of chicken. :(
Payson's crush on Sasha has been foreshadowed and gaining in momentum for awhile now. But I could never blame her in the slightest. Anyone with eyes or ears would not blame her. But I do love the chemistry between the actors so much. Sasha continues to help Payson with her struggle for grace. He sets up a cute little plan to help her get in touch with her emotions and it really is a touching scene. She's getting in touch with her emotions alright. When Payson finally succeeds in doing what Sasha wanted from her, she tells him how much he inspires her and plants a big wet one on him. AHHHH PAYSON! Not in front of the video camera! That's gonna come back to haunt them for sure. Payson runs out on a stunned Sasha with a look similar to that of a deer in headlights. Things are going to get awkward now.
This season is so. GOOD.
