Make It Or Break It - Free People - Recap

The drama is slowly amping itself up to the point where I foresee that it will explode next week. The worst part of this episode was the absence of Sasha. I am really not a fan of his lack of screen time. Besides my weird girl crush on Payson, he's my favorite part of the show. The girls get a new coach and she doesn't live up to Sasha at all. She's 25, a bff of Lauren, doesn't believe in being strict and would rather meditate than be a coach at all. The only plus side that comes with her is she rids the gym of the No Dating rule.

This is of course, sweet news to Emily. She's just gotten her probation revoked and is ready to spend all her free time with Damon. He's back in Boulder now that he can't afford to record in LA any longer. Emily is happily spending her time stargazing with him and ignoring Lauren's taunts that she never gives anything to Damon. They spend a good portion of the episode mulling over the fact that Emily isn't being a good girlfriend because she hasn't "given" herself to Damon. I wasn't aware it was a birthday present or something. Before Emily can decide, she gets news that she is still welcome on the National Team provided she signs a new contract. The new contract basically says that she will follow the rules, not date or have any life whatsoever and not work. The whole not working thing wouldn't be much of a problem if she had just kept her scholarship. Her pride is so annoying sometimes. Not entirely willing to give up her dream, she does the deed with Damon before handing in her contract. I think we all know where this is headed.

Kaylie is still in rehab and getting help from her roommate on how to get out of there asap. She pretends to care about painting her feelings and feigns happiness when she gains three pounds. It's hard to keep track of just how Kaylie feels about her illness. She wants to get back to the gym but I can't tell if she knows the way she went about things before were a problem. She acts her way out of rehab and back at home but isn't thrilled when she learns she still won't be allowed to train. She's encouraged to explore new interests and her mom is happy to help her. Kaylie could care less about painting or singing but spies an easy way out when she agrees to let Damon use her mother's recording studio for free. Hanging with Damon will count as a new interest. Will Kaylie snap out of it anytime soon? I have a theory something will happen to her rebel friend in rehab to smack some sense into her. Hopefully.

Back at The Rock, the girls are at a loss over who their new Team Captain should be. Without Sasha to mediate, Payson and Lauren decide to compete for it. We all know Payson deserves it but dannnng does Lauren want it more. She trashes Payson to the new coach to sabotage her and make herself look better. Ugh. I really hate Lauren sometimes. I feel like she has zero redeemable qualities. Payson isn't going out without a fight and pulls out a retired move that she hasn't done since she hurt her back. Now, I'm not gonna lie, I was so scared she would fall again. I love her. But fear not, Payson is flawless. And sneaky... she tries to get Lauren to up her move difficulty and make a mistake.

Emily convinces her that Lauren could probably get hurt so Payson tries to stop her. When the Coach refuses to reason with Lauren, Payson forfeits. Lauren doesn't accept and does the move anyway. She doesn't get hurt but she does fall. In the head, it doesn't matter because their new coach can't make a decision and awards them both as co captains. Lauren is pissed and immediately runs home to daddy. She momentarily stopped hating Steve for awhile when he and Summer get back together but it doesn't last. Lauren blackmails him after announcing that it was her who got rid of Sasha and leaked the tape. Steve is stunned and I'm actually really curious if he's going to stand by his daughter.

What will Summer think? Will what Lauren has done get out to the rest of the girls? I can't wait for the blow up to be honest.
