Major Casting News: 'Person of Interest', 'Vampire Diaries', Disney's 'Big Hero 6'
Casting news is coming out the wazoo for both TV and film, which is saying something considering what a slow week it's been in the casting department outside of the news that Christopher Walken would be playing Captain Hook in NBC's Peter Pan Live! later this year.
Of course, I say it's a slow week but it's only Tuesday, so maybe this sudden influx of news is a harbinger of things to come for the rest of the week.
Anyway, let's get to the casting news, shall we?

First up is the news that the marvelous Cara Buono is heading to Person of Interest in a major recurring role. Buono's character is described as "a femme fatale who’s uniquely qualified to navigate the new world order of Season 4," which makes this a pretty ideal casting choice. Seriously, she's been great in virtually everything I've ever seen her in, from The Sopranos to Elementary to her Emmy-nominated turn as Dr. Faye Miller (my favorite Don girlfriend) on Mad Men. Season 4 of Person of Interest doesn't premiere until Tuesday, September 23rd, but I'm loving this casting decision.

Meanwhile, a Eureka star is headed to Mystic Falls.
Colin Ferguson has been cast in the sixth season of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries in a recurring role. Ferguson will play the role of Tripp, the leader of a community militia “who will do anything to protect his town.”
Ferguson all but confirmed the news over Twitter with some very obvious hinting:
Hmmm.... Seem to have 'tripped' my way into a new role... Mystic Falls, hunh?
This is gonna be fun :)
— Colin Ferguson (@colinferg) July 14, 2014Later, after executive producer Julie Plec made the news official, Ferguson expressed his guarded optimism about the new role:
Classic! Everyone who knows the show is telling me I'm going to die. I think I packed too much...

I'd be inclined to be nervous too, if I were Ferguson. Pack light!

Lastly, the voice cast has finally been revealed for Disney's Big Hero 6, the first big-screen animated collaboration between Marvel and Disney. Based on the comic book series of the same name, the movie centers on young robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada and his robot companion Baymax, who assemble a team of crime fighters to protect the gloriously named city of San Fransokyo.
So which actors will be bringing their talents?
The movie has officially cast Maya Rudolph, James Cromwell, Damon Wayans Jr., T.J. Miller, Alan Tudyk, Jamie Chung, Genesis Rodriguez and Daniel Henney to the voice cast, alongside Oregon-born, Tokyo-raised actor Ryan Potter (Nickelodeon’s Supah Ninjas) in the lead role of Hiro Hamada and Scott Adsit as Baymax.
Big Hero 6 hits theaters in 3D on November 7, and it already sounds like a pretty good time. Count me in.
