Maddie & Tae talk about their #1 hit on TODAY (VIDEO)

Maddie & Tae, the duo behind the #1 hit 'Girl In a Country Song' were featured on TODAY this weekend. Their anti-bro-country song is the first female duo #1 debut single in eight years.

Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye wrote it in reaction to how girls are depicted in country music, specially videos -- and their efforts paid off nicely with the support of country radio. The girls are signed with American Idol mentor Scott Borchetta's Big Machine under the Dot label.

The single is certified RIAA Gold and their video has gone past 14 million views on YouTube. Their debut EP is out now.
