Macy's 4th of July Fireworks 2010 Spectacular - My Video

The Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular was just three blocks away from my apartment on the Hudson River so I thought: why not?
It was really hot and muggy and there was a lot of people, but I really wanted to take my own video of the fireworks. The good thing is that I brought a better lens this time (compared to last week's Gay Pride fireworks unfocused lens) so the footage was so much better. However, I really need to bring a tripod next time -- or at least scout a better location. This run and gun thing just won't work if you are holding the camera up for more than 10 minutes! My back hurt and my hands were shaking.
I looked at the TV coverage afterwards and it was so much better than my video -- but a unique man on the street point of view is also good. The beautiful aerial shots on NBC for example are impossible for normal people to experience live, so what I took is what the thousands of New Yorkers on the street saw.
I got a renewed awe of living in New York after spending 45 minutes in the middle of people from all walks of life last night. It's really a melting pot - diversity is the majority here. Also the idea that thousands came out of the woodwork to see exploding gunpowder in the air on the 4th of July was fascinating to me. There are a lot of people in this city - hundreds of thousands went to the west side of town to see the fireworks live.
