Luke Bracey Joins ‘Point Break’ Remake Opposite Gerard Butler
The Point Break remake has found its Johnny Utah! The remake to Kathryn Bigelow's classic 1991 action movie has cast the role once inhabited by Keanu Reeves.
Luke Bracey will join the Point Break remake opposite Gerard Butler. Butler will be taking over Patrick Swayze's role as the enigmatic Bodhi, a criminal whom undercover FBI agent Johnny Utah must bring down. Bracey is a relative unknown, though the Australian actor is no stranger to big-screen action movies, having starred as Cobra Commander in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. He will also be seen again sooner rather than later, as he's part of the cast of the upcoming Nicholas Sparks adaptation, The Best of Me.
The remake to Point Break is already one of the more high profile films in development, as Ericson Core (Invincible) will direct from a script by Kurt Wimmer (Salt, Total Recall) that updates the setting from the surfer-scene to the world of extreme sports. Which seems like a painfully unnecessary change, but hey, it's Hollywood. Here's hoping the film is at least half as fun as the original.
