Lucas Black heads to semis at Francis Hagan Match Play Championship, wife goes into labor

Lucas Black is a new dad! I'm so happy. Congratulations!

He was playing a quarterfinal golf match when his wife went into labor in the hospital. Perfect timing for Father's Day!

Lucas Black was in a hurry as he slipped off his golf shoes and loaded his clubs into the back of his Toyota Prius yesterday afternoon at Lake of the Woods Golf Course.

His duel against T.J. Sweet in the quarterfinals of the 18th annual Francis Hagan Match Play Championship ended two holes shy of a complete round when Sweet left his par putt inches short of the cup on No. 16, giving Black the hole to clinch a 3-and-2 victory.

But it was not over soon enough to beat his wife, Maggie, going into labor. Black said she was getting induced right as he and Sweet were finishing and was expected to give birth to the couple’s first child last night.
