Lucas Black - FNL

On the bus ride to Portland, Maine, I finally got to watch Friday Night Lights, starring my favorite actor Lucas Black (shown here with another hottie, Jay Hernandez). I'm proclaiming that I am a true Lucas fan since I have no qualms about making DVD screen caps all day and posting them on my blog.

FNL is a film about the 1988 Permian Panthers of Odessa, Texas and their quest for the high school state championship. There are some really great moments in this one, with Antwone Fisher's Derek Luke providing a lot of the highlights. It really captures how it is to be a teenage athlete in a football-crazy town. If you don't mind watching 17-year-old boys playing and talking about football 90% of the time, then this film's for you.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed about $61 million last year, so it wasn't a flop -- and it shouldn't be. If you missed the theatrical release, it's currently out on DVD so I suggest that you put it on your Netflix queue. The DVD has some great bonus clips of Lucas and the real-life 1988 Permian Panthers characters.
