Lost: The Final Season - Questions, WTF moments, and The Many Fails of Kate

(Here's Noelle's recap of tonight's episode of Lost: What Kate Does)

Given that this was a Kate-centric episode, I didn't have many expectations other than being tortured worse than Sayid (Karma's a bitch eh Sayid?) The premise of this episode is that Kate is on the run yet again..and thinking only of herself..yet again..while Jack continues to try and be a hero and find out what the hell is going on. Let's go over the biggest questions and WTF moments from this week:

-Sayid healed? I enjoyed that this episode opened with an allusion to the season 5 episode where Ben told Jack the story of Thomas, who had to touch Jesus' wound to believe it was healed. We see Sayid's wound has healed but at what cost? Is Sayid still Sayid?

-Kate, Claire, and Ethan. Threatening a pregnant woman with a gun and hijacking her cab are the beginning stages of a close bond? Yeah okay. She practically wanted to run over Artz! Maybe because he took her shirt before he blew up on the island. Kate being present while Claire is in labor is another similar situation off island. Factor in Ethan's surprise appearance and you've got yourself a strange moment. Did Ethan ever go back to the island in this timeline after he was evacuated? I guess he can't considering it's underwater. Is he just a harmless doctor now who wants nothing to do with Claire or her Baybay? "I just don't want to stick you with needles if I don't have to." :P Could be, but I think the delay of Aaron's birth will mean something later on and it wasn't a coincidence that that guy left his wife before they could adopt Aaron.

-Sawyer. Sawyer yet again chooses to go all Rambo and get his ass out of Otherville before they perform their island voodoo on him. I don't think Sawyer is being stubborn here, I think he's heartbroken and guilty and truly believes he's destined to be alone. Kate being the pain in the ass that she is, follows Sawyer and makes him cry. Okay, not really, but the scene with the engagement ring for Juliet was beautifully done. Will Sawyer ever get the chance to ask her to marry him over that cup of coffee? She'll go dutch :(.

-The Infection. The Others take Sayid to a back room where they torture him a little. Irony. They say they're performing a test which he hasn't passed. What is the test and what does branding and ash have to do with it? If I were to guess, I would say they're checking for signs of Smokie. Is that the infection? Danielle's team was infected many moons ago after meeting up with Smokie and getting dragged down the scary hole, so I assume it's the same situation.

-The Poison. What the hell was in that pill full of poison? It looked like Dogen was just mashing up his island plants. Jack swallowing the pill was pretty badass because now we know that the infection can spread through Sayid. And once it does, we will have another Island Crazypants A la Claire and her shotgun. Very Danielle-esque don'tcha think? How were Claire and Sayid claimed? Did Claire die in that house explosion and Smokie got to her before Sawyer? Miles did look at her funny. Will the pill rid Sayid of Smokie before it manifests itself? Once again OMG at the darkness in Claire.

-The Temple. Is that Flocke's home? When Ben went to be judged, he went in through the hole in the temple wall where Smokie then had his way with Ben. Why was Flocke able to come and go from the temple for so long undetected?

-The List. Why is it so important that Sawyer stay in the temple? Why did Jacob touch them in the first place? Is he planning on using them for something? Like fighting his battle? And while I'm at it..is Jacob still the good guy here? Yes he's all Team Freedom of Choice, but what's the real story? Is it all just a game between two old bitter rivals? Why is Jacob's symbol an Ankh? Eternal life?

Overall, I thought this episode was down a notch from the epic premiere. Kate's existence still irks me and this week Jin is the only one who saw right through. I mean she stole Jack's pen last week! So rude. I clapped when Dogen told Jack to redeem himself. Very important and very necessary. Also necessary? More Ricardus. Please.
