Lost Season 6 - Episode 8: Recon - Recap

A rather laid-back Sawyer-centric episode last night on Lost -- but lots of goodies setting up the action moving forward.

The flash-sideways:

Sawyer is a cop! And Miles is his partner! OMG

Miles sets up Sawyer for a date... with Charlotte (Faraday's love interest). He tells her that he chose to be a cop instead of a criminal. The night doesn't end well however as she discovers his secret "Sawyer" folder.

Miles is also upset that Sawyer did not tell him that he had gone to Australia, and quits being his partner. Sawyer punches a mirror.

Sawyer gets some inspiration to tell Miles the truth and apologize to Charlotte after watching a Little House on the Prairie rerun.

Sawyer reconciles with Miles in his police car and tells him about his trip to Australia: he had been looking for the guy named "Sawyer" (Anthony Cooper?) who caused his father to kill his mother when he was 9.

And then -- their car get hit. Someone is getting chased by the cops and Sawyer and Miles pursue. They corner the runner in an alley.

It's Kate!

The Island:

Sawyer and Jin at Claire's camp. (So that's where Jin was). Kate, Crazy Claire, Crazy Sayid and Flocke arrive with the Others from the temple who want to leave the island.

While on their way to another campsite, Sawyer confronts Flocke about details -- they talk in private. Flocke says that he's the "smoke thing" - nice. He then asks Sawyer to do a recon mission on Hydra Island. Flocke says they are going to use the AlJira plane to get off the island but there are some people on Hydra Island that will stop them. Sawyer goes.

He sees a pile of dead bodies and meets a woman with glasses who tells him that she's the last survivor. She turns out to be "reconning" herself and Sawyer is caught by her friends with guns.

"Take me to your leader," Sawyer says.

They take him to the submarine! To Charles Widmore!

Sawyer makes a deal with Widmore. Sawyer tells him that he would bring Flocke over by telling him the coast is clear for as long as Widmore promises to get him and his friends off the island. They shake hands.

Sawyer reports back to the Flocke and tells him exactly what happened. And for a moment there I felt like Sawyer was JT from Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains -- playing both sides! Nice.

Meanwhile, Claire attempts to kill Kate.

She is stopped by Flocke as Sayid watches doing nothing. Flocke slaps Claire! Omigosh, it's wacko island all of a sudden.

Flocke talks to Kate and tells her he sent Sawyer on a mission on Hydra island and that Claire is crazy. I'm not sure, but I thought Flocke was using some sort of telepathy or empathy powers on Kate to get her to warm up to him. It seemed that he was looking for "memories" when he said the he had a crazy mother -- which stuck a chord with Kate. Did you guys sense that too? Or was it just odd acting by Terry O'Quinn?

Anyway... Sawyer talks to Kate and tells her that he wants Flocke and Widmore to fight it out, while he and Kate get off the island via the submarine.

/End.

Next week is an episode six seasons in the making: the story of Richard Alpert is revealed. *goosebumps*
