Lost Season 6 - Episode 6: Sundown - Recap

One word to describe tonight's episode of Lost: Action!

But first the dramatic flash sideways:

In Los Angeles, we find out that Sayid's brother Omar is married to the love of his life Nadia -- with two kids. So sad!

Omar is in debt with a bad man and wants Sayid to "fix" it using his Iraqi interrogation skills. Sayid says: "I'm sorry, I'm not that man anymore."

Next day, Omar is mugged and in the hospital. Cameo in the hospital: Jack!

Sayid realizes that this was not an accident and wants revenge, but Nadia stops him. He doesn't do anything and goes back home to play with his niece and nephew. When Nadia comes home they have a heart to heart. She asks why "he pushed her toward his brother when it was obvious that he loved her." Sayid says: "I can't be with you because I don't deserve you." So sad!

Sayid is captured by Omar's creditors and the bad man turns out to be Martin - the bounty hunter hired by Charles Widmore to kill Ben on the island.

Martin bullies Sayid offering him poached eggs, but then Sayid's instincts kick in and kills everyone in the kitchen.

Someone is struggling in one of the storage rooms -- Sayid investigates. It's Jin! OMG

This is actually a great flash sideways as we find Sayid somehow mirroring these events on the Island.

The Island!

The episode actually opens with a great "my kung fu is better than your kung fu moment" between Sayid and Dogan - Japanese guy who hates English. What a great fight! Dogan gets the upperhand on Sayid, but then his baseball falls to the ground and he tells Sayid to just leave the temple and never come back.

Sayid talks to Miles outside.

Miles: "What are you doing?"
Sayid: "I'm banished."
Miles: "For what?"
Sayid: "Apparently I'm evil."

I loved this dialogue!

Miles explains to Sayid that he had been dead for 2 hours before he miraculously came back to life -- so something else brought him back to life, not the Others.

Claire and Flocke arrive at the temple and Claire goes in. She tells Dogan that Flocke wants to see him. He says no and the Others put Claire in the "hole".

Dogan looks for Jack and Hugo - but they are gone (from last episode). He talks to Sayid. He asks Sayid to kill the man outside (Flocke) and don't even let him speak, because that would be too late. He tells Sayid that he should do this to prove that there is still good in his soul.

Dogan: "This man will not stop until everything living on this island is dead. He is evil incarnate."

For our "it's a small island after all" moment of the week: Sayid randomly meets Kate in the jungle. Kate: "What did I miss?" Sayid: "Ask Miles." Kate goes back to the temple.

Miles tell Kate that Claire is there -- which gets Kate all excited.

Meanwhile Sayid meets Flocke, then Sayid stabs him in the chest! But Flocke is still alive. OMG

Sayid: "What are you?"

Random blah blah about Sayid being gullible.

Flocke then asks Sayid to go back to the temple to deliver a message -- and if he can do it for him he could give him anything that he wanted. Flocke: "What if I said you can have anything in the entire world?"
Sayid: "I will tell you that the only thing I ever wanted died in my arms and I'll never see it again."
Flocke: "What if you could?" (Evil smile)

So Sayid goes back to the temple and delivers the message to the Others:

1. Jacob is dead. None of them need to stay in the temple - they're free.
2. Flocke is leaving the island forever. Those of them who want to go with him, should leave the temple and join him.
3. At sundown, if they stay in the temple, they die.

Kate talks to Claire in the hole. Claire is nuts! Kate ends up telling Claire that she took care of Aaron and then she came back to the island to rescue Claire so she can be with Aaron. (Bad idea Kate!)

Claire: "I'm not the one that needs to be rescued Kate. He's coming, Kate. He's coming and they can't stop him!" (Omigosh, she's nuts!)

Then the episode goes full circle!

Sayid has a heart-to-heart talk with Dogan who tells him about the deal Dogan made with Jacob: Jacob would save his son from death after a car accident, but Dogan had to go to the island and would never see his son again. Dogan: "The man outside, I take it he offered you a similar bargain?" Sayid: "Yes."

It's sundown!

Dogan: "Will you choose to stay or go?"
Sayid: "I'd like to stay."

And then Sayid drowns Dogan in the pool!
The guy with glasses comes in and Sayid slashes his throat!
The smoke monster enters the temple!
Everyone is in panic!
The Others are dying left and right!
OMG!

Miles and Kate get separated as Kate wants to go get Claire.

Kate reaches Claire. Kate: "You've gotta get out of there." Claire: "No, you'll be much safer here (the hole)." Then the smoke monster comes and Kate jumps into the hole -- and was indeed safer as the smoke monster breezes by.

Miles tries to hide in a room, but Ilana kicks her way in! OMG. She's with Frank, Ben and Sun. Ben goes after Sayid in the pool.

Ben: "Sayid, c'mon I know a way out of her, there's still time."
Sayid: "Not for me." (Evil smile!) OMG So scary.

Miles reveals to Sun that Jin is still alive -- where is he anyway? Wasn't he with Claire and Flocke last episode?

Anyway, Ilana, Miles, Sun and Frank go into a secret passage and escape the smoke monster.

Sayid, Claire and a confused Kate join Flocke who is waiting outside the temple. Flocke gives Kate a thoughtful look but goes on and leads his troops.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

10 more episodes left until the series finale.
