Lost Season 6 - Episode 3: What Kate Does - Recap

It happens every season: the writers insert a Kate-centric episode early because they know the audience isn't as interested in her storyline compared to the rest of the characters. How sad. It almost feels like a "let's get her story done with so we can enjoy the juicy stuff later".
At any rate, some interesting stuff happened tonight. For the "flash-sidewards" alternate reality scenes, we see Kate and Claire interacting with each other in LA after Kate hijacks the taxi at the airport. While Kate gets her handcuffs off just like the bandit that she is pointing a gun a people, she is struck by guilt that she had taken the purse of an expectant young mother. She goes back to the curb where she left Claire and helps her find the adoptive parents of the baby.
Unfortunately when they get there, the adoptive parents had separated and were no longer interested, and conveniently Claire goes into contractions. Kate drives her to a medical facility. Then some weirdness as all of a sudden Claire yells: "Is Aaron OK?!" while the doctor (who incidentally is Ethan!) fiddles with the alarms going off in hospital bed. Interesting.
I liked this Kate-Claire-unborn Aaron scene since we know in the real timeline, Kate takes care of Aaron when she left the island. I guess the writers are telling us that even in this flash-sideways: Kate, Claire and Aaron's destinies are intertwined.
Claire decides not to have the baby that moment even if Ethan said that she was ready any time to give birth. She also helps Kate by lying to the cops who came over to investigate. She gives Kate her credit card as thanks.
Over at the island...
What about Sayid? The Others torture him and conclude that he has been infected by some anomaly and needs to be cured with a pill. However, he needs to take the pill willingly and they ask Jack to do it. Jack is hesitant since he doesn't know what's in it. Because the Others are so secretive and for the past few seasons will never tell you anything -- Jack forces their hand by taking the pill himself. The Japanese guy who doesn't like speaking English gives him the Heimlich manouver! "What's in it???" asks Jack. "Poison."
So they want to kill Sayid because "there is a darkness growing in him" and when that reaches his heart, he will no longer be "Sayid". And apparently, this is also what happened to Jack's sister -- who we all know is Claire. Interesting.
At the beginning of the episode, Sawyer escapes from the temple. Kate, Jin, an obnoxious Other and an Other who talks too much, go out and track him. Kate knocks down the Others and escapes leaving Jin who only wants to find Sun and the Ajira airplane. Kate eventually finds Sawyer at the Other village. He was looking for the ring he was supposed to propose to Juliet with. At the dock, Kate says she should be blamed for Juliet's death, but Sawyer says it was his fault since he was the one who convinced Juliet to stay in the first place when she had a chance to leave the island. Oh the drama.
Jin is heading back to the temple, when he gets ambushed by the two Others. The obnoxious one wants to kill him. Jin runs and gets caught in a trap. Then the Others get shot and killed by someone in the jungle: It's Claire! But wait! According to Japanese guy who hates English, it's not Claire -- so could she be a reincarnated Rousseau?
I love Lost!
