Lost Season 6 - Episode 15: Across the Sea - Recap

I completely did not understand anything, so I'll cut to the chase and just give you the summary of tonight's episode of Lost which is the third to the last episode of Lost ever.
Claudia arrives on the island after her ship sinks. A nameless woman played by Allison Janney find her. Claudia gives birth to twins: Jacob and the man in black. The man in black does not have a name because his mother did not have a name ready for him.
After Claudia gives birth, the woman kills her.
Jacob and the boy in black grow up thinking that the woman is their mother. She constantly refers to the boy in black as "special".
The woman shows Jacob and the boy in the black "her purpose" which would someday be the purpose of one of the boys: that is to protect the white light which is the heart of the island.
Claudia as a ghost appears to the boy in black who shows him the truth: they were shipwrecked on the island and they are from somewhere else. The crew members have taken camp somewhere on the island. This plants a desire in the boy in black to leave the island and go to his "people".
He packs his stuff and convinces Jacob to go with him, but they are stopped by the woman. Jacob makes a decision to stay with the woman even after the boy in black told him what he knows.
Years pass and we discover that Jacob and now the man in black have been in constant communication. The man in black along with some smart people at the camp have discovered other ways to get to the white light by digging wells where metals react differently (magnetized?)
Jacob tells the woman -- and she goes after the man in black. He shows her that they've already found the white light, and that he is going to make a wheel and then turn it. (Why? We don't friggin know because maybe after 6 seasons the writers don't know either...)
The woman then knocks the man in black unconscious.
When he wakes up, he discovers that she has killed and burned down the entire village as well!
The woman brings Jacob back to the white light.
"It is the... life death rebirth, the source, the heart of the island. Just promise me you will never go down there. It will be worse than dying."
She commands Jacob to drink something which will make them "the same" -- I guess protectors of the white light.
The woman goes back to their home alone and discovers it ransacked. Man in black is there -- and he kills the woman!
Before she dies, she says "thank you." (Why? Who the hell knows? There are only 2 episodes left why not add another mystery in there.)
Jacob arrives and beats the man in black bloody -- just like he did when they were younger. He drags the man in black to the white light.
Oh, apparently, when they were younger, the woman made it that they could not hurt/kill each other. (Why? Why not? I think that is the answer.)
Since he can't kill the man in black, Jacob decides to just throw him into the white light where the consequences are allegedly "worse than death" according to the woman.
Man in black is knocked out and floats into the stream leading to the white light. Seconds later, the black smoke emerges!
Jacob then finds the man in black unconscious (or apparently dead) nearby. He brings his body to the woman in their home which turns out to be the cave that Jack, Kate and Locke found in season one which contained bones of "Adam and Eve".
And that's it.
One more episode of Lost next week before the 2 1/2 hour series finale on Sunday May 23.
I really don't know what happened. I can't believe they are going to explain everything in the final episode. Or not. Because after 1 hour tonight, I sure did not get anything that substantial about why things are happening as they are on the island.
