Lost - Season 4 - Episode 76 - The Constant

Daniel Faraday: "Tell me you know about Eloise!"
OMG. Lost just entered the realm of the Matrix and all that good science fiction stuff. Can I say it? The best episode ever!
Suddenly all those flashbacks and flashforwards make some sense -- a little bit. But geez, the story of Lost and how they've created this world around it is more incredible than I could have imagined.
My thoughts with SPOILERS:
No revelation of another member of the Oceanic Six, but boy did we get some info this week. So Desmond suddenly goes crazy when he, Sayid and Frank go the the freighter on the helicopter. He now suddenly finds himself in 1996. His consciousness switches between 1996 and present time. It's like how the flashbacks works in Lost except Desmond knows that he is going back and forth in real time.
Side note: amazingly, the guys on the freighter are not as hostile as I thought they could be. No prisoner type of scenarios for now at least.
And so Sayid convinces Frank to let him use the phone and talk to Daniel who is our resident genius and knows a lot about the island. He ends up talking to Desmond and gives him directions on how to save himself -- by talking to Daniel in 1996! Desmond finds Daniel in the past and all the time travel paradoxes begin. So Daniel's future and past selves end up helping Desmond. Amazing. Time-travel stories are great if they're well done don't you think?
A center of it all is this: Desmond must find an anchor -- a "constant" in the present and the past -- to break the cycle -- or else Desmond's mind will snap and he'll die. We then get this awesome hook: the love story of Desmond and Penny. It had a "Somewhere in Time" feel about it wrapped around a science fiction story. Just amazing.
In the end on the island, Daniel sees the answer to Desmond's question to him in the past: Can you change the future? Yes! (I could still be wrong, but it looked like it)
I love Lost!
