'Lost Girl' to End After Season 5

It looks like we'll have to say farewell to Lost Girl after Season 5.

Syfy and Showcase, the show's Canadian home, announced that the show's upcoming fifth season will also be its last. The series has been a success for both Syfy and Showcase, owing to a premise that's equal parts creepy and sexy: the story centers on a succubus named Bo (Anna Silk) who feeds off the sexual energy of her victims.

"It’s time for Bo's journey to come to an epic conclusion," said star Anna Silk in a YouTube message on Monday, attempting to ease the fanbase's disappointment over this decision. "So while we might be saying goodbye, we'll be doing it with a bang."

But even with this upcoming fifth season being the last, we'll still have a lot of time to come to grips with the end, since the final episodes won't air until the end of 2015: Showcase ordered sixteen episodes for the final season, and will split those episodes into two parts, with the first half premiering on December 7, and the second half debuting in Fall 2015. Syfy hasn't announced how it plans to air the episodes stateside, but one would expect they'd follow Showcase's lead, if for no other reason than to keep the piracy risk down, since not everyone is going to be down with waiting [x] months after the Canadian airdate for Syfy to decide to follow suit.
