Lorna Simpson sang “So Emotional” on The X Factor UK 2013 Live Show 1.

This was a great performance, I thought. Lorna really knows how to work the stage, and even though she was moving around a lot, her vocals never suffered for it. I did think it was a bit of a throwback though, and not necessarily in a good way. The song just made her seem like such a dated artist, when I'm not sure that's the case. She could be current, but there's no way we would ever know. There are ways to do a song for 80s Week without having the song show its age. I wish she had kept the slower arrangement of the opening, as she sounded a bit like Leona Lewis there, and it was great.
