Lorde Becomes Youngest Artist to Top Billboard Hot 100 Chart Since Tiffany
Lorde
Lorde is the queen of the Billboard Hot 100.
HitFix reports that the 16-year old New Zealander's hit single, "Royals," has jumped from #3 to #1, making her the youngest solo artist to top the chart since Tiffany, who was also 16 when she achieved the milestone in 1987. However, Lorde does not hold claim to the overall record. That honor belongs to Stevie Wonder, who topped the chart at age 13 in 1963 with his song "Fingertips - Part 2".
But Lorde wasn't the only artist having a great week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: Drake landed his first top 5 solo single in over 3 years with “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” which jumps from #7 to #4. Katy Perry also continues to sell strong as “Roar” takes the #2 spot. Meanwhile Miley Cyrus falls from the top spot to #3 with “Wrecking Ball," while Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” also saw a drop, falling to #5. However, the top 10 saw a new arrival in the form of Ylvis, whose "The Fox" is being called this year's "Gangnam Style." The song makes its chart debut at #8.
