LISTEN: 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin Supports Same-Sex Marriage
WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is one of the most outspoken figures in the history of sports-entertainment, and now that he has his own podcast, he's using it as a platform for his opinions. Yet they aren't exactly the hyper-conservative opinions you might expect from a truck-driving, beer-loving, deer-hunting Texas native. In fact, Steve Austin is firmly on the side of marriage equality.
In a clip from last year that is now making the media rounds, Austin spoke his mind on equality, particularly same-sex marriage. He effusively declares, "I believe that any human being in America, or any human being in the [expletive] world, that wants to be married, and if it's same-sex, more power to'em."
He then went into a profanity-laced tirade against the churches that have made it their mission to deny marriage to same-sex couples.
“What also chaps my [expletive], some of these churches, have the high horse that they get on and say ‘we as a church do not believe in that.’ Which one of these [people] talked to God, and God said that same-sex marriage was a no-can-do?”
Unfortunately, he didn't punctuate it with "And that's the bottom line, cause Stone Cold said so!" but we'll just overlook that for now since this is a really awesome clip from a real down-to-Earth guy whose relatability made him one of the most popular wrestlers in history (please excuse the gushing, I'm a fan).
