Liam Payne defends Duck Dynasty "family values", goes on Twitter rant
Liam Payne of One Direction is the latest celebrity to throw his hat into the gay-bashing with free speech defense bandwagon.
This is probably worse than Sherri Shepherd, Juan Pablo Galavis and Phil Robertson himself, as it may have created a new generation of homophobes in the last 24 hours. Watching One Direction fans mindlessly defend Liam on Twitter is so upsetting.
On Saturday, Liam Payne tweeted his support for Duck Dynasty with this tweet to Willie Robertson, son of Phil Robertson:
@williebosshog huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold. big fan
— Liam Payne (@Real_Liam_Payne) January 18, 2014
This was then retweeted by openly gay YouTube celebrity Tyler Oakley:
Wow. Very confused and disappointed by this @Real_Liam_Payne tweet. This literally changes everything... pic.twitter.com/aQajQdJhfQ

Liam then tweeted:
Being a fan of someones show and the way they still hold a family together doesnt mean i am ok with all they say.

On Sunday morning, Liam tweeted a series of tweets attacking bloggers and journalists for picking up the story:
Liam's fans are now ATTACKING Tyler Oakley.
Well that sucks. I misinterpreted a comment & stood up for something I believe in - which in no way altars my love of the music, by the way.

I'm taking a break from the Internet for a minute. Getting some crazy death threats and stuff. Sending love to y'all, I'll see you soon. :]

What a shame.
Honestly, if Liam disagreed with the homophobia demonstrated by the Duck Dynasty family in the first place, he should have said that outright instead of posting a tweet in support of the Duck Dynasty "family values" -- which includes homophobia! Seriously.
The Robertson family of Duck Dynasty is associated with anti-gay sentiment right now in the United States and is currently being used as a proxy for an anti-gay political agenda.
