Lewis Hamilton wins 2014 Singapore Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won the 2014 Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore on Sunday, September 21, 2014.

Hamilton started from pole position and now leads the driver's championship points.

His Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 teammate Nico Rosberg, and the championship leader before the start of the race, retired after technical issues. Rosberg had to start from pit lane after his car stalled on the grid due to electrical with the steering wheel.

The race was shortened to 60 laps from 61 as the race took 2 hours long. There was one safety car deployed.

This was Hamilton's second win in a row in two races and his second win at Singapore. This was his seventh win of the season and 29th of his career.

After the safety care was deployed, Hamilton, who still had a mandatory pit stop to change tires, had to gain 28+ seconds over second place Sebastian Vettel in order to keep his lead. He managed to gain a bit under that (25 seconds) and after his pit stop on lap 52 entered behind Vettel. He however was able to quickly overtake the reigning world champion to take the lead and win.

There are 5 races left, with the last race in Abu Dhabi on November 23 giving double points.

Let's go Lewis!
