'Les Misérables' wins at Cinema Audio Society Awards

After a tumultuous awards season that saw its prospects rise and fall at a breakneck pace, 'Les Misérables' finally claimed a prize from a tech guild.
Tom Hooper's big-screen adaptation of the popular stage musical earned the award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for Live-Action Motion Pictures from the Cinema Audio Society, which honors the best in Sound Mixing in film. Oscar has gone big for musicals in the Sound Mixing category in the past, so this win certainly bodes well for its chances at the Academy Awards next Sunday, where it will face stiff competition from potential spoiler 'Skyfall'.
Meanwhile, animated features were split off into their own category for the first time this year, and the big winner was Disney/Pixar's 'Brave'.
