Leona Lewis settles with Avicii on 'Collide' plagiarism case

Leona Lewis Collide Avicii

X Factor winner Leona Lewis and Simon Cowell's Syco have settled with Avicii who accused Leona of plagiarism on her new single 'Collide'. Avicii had asked the courts to block the single's release on September 4 - but according to Syco the single will be launched as planned. Avicii is now credited on the cover of the single outright.

So it looks like Avicii had all the cards and Syco caved. LOL Good for him. I'm really surprised at how sloppy Simon Cowell's company has been lately. Maybe they were distracted by the Cheryl Cole X Factor drama.

From Guardian:

Leona Lewis and her record label – Simon Cowell's Syco – have agreed to work with a 22-year-old Swedish DJ after settling a legal dispute over The X Factor winner's forthcoming single, Collide.

The up-and-coming dance producer, Avicii, last week attempted to block the release of Lewis's single claiming that the instrumental was a direct copy of his own song, Fade Into Darkness.

Syco is understood to have reached an 11th-hour agreement with Avicii's record label, Ministry of Sound, on Monday – hours before the case was due to be heard at the high court in London. Details of the agreement were not disclosed but the single will be released as planned on 4 September.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Syco said: "It is announced today that Leona Lewis and Avicii will work together on the forthcoming single of Collide. Collide will be released on 4 September. Since getting its first radio play in the UK it has received rave reviews and is already topping club charts across the country."
