Glee star Lea Michele took to Twitter to thank fans for their support in the wake of co-star Cory Monteith's decision to enter rehab for substance abuse.
"Still so overwhelmed by all the love and well wishes we have received from you all," the actress Tweeted yesterday. "My heart is so full."
Monteith's rep announced on Sunday that the actor would be entering a treatment center voluntarily, adding that Monteith would miss filming for the final two episodes of the fourth season of the hit FOX series. The actor will not be written out of the show for good, however; a storyline reason for his absence will be written into the show.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy and 20th Century Fox are also standing behind the star. Murphy tweeted, "I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100 [percent]". Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox released this statement in support of the actor:
"Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment. Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return."
This will be the second trip to rehab for Monteith, who told Parade in 2011 that his substance abuse as a teenager was so bad that he is "lucky to be alive."
We sincerely wish Monteith a full recovery. Addiction is no joke.
