Le Clos Wins Gold, Phelps takes Silver - Men's 200m Butterfly - London 2012 Olympics - Medal Results

Michael Phelps appeared to be on the verge of a historic 3-peat in the 200m Butterfly, but he appeared to lunge for the wall a bit too soon and got out touched by Le Clos, who won the gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics by just .05 seconds.  A disappointing result for Phelps in his signature event.

Michael Phelps didn't swim his best race ever, but he had the lead heading into the last 25 meters of the race and I thought for sure he was going to get the win.  Phelps seemed to dive for the wall a bit too early, which allowed Le Clos to out touch him.  While Phelps was denied the 3-peat, he did tie the record for most medals won by an Olympian at 18 with his silver medal finish.  Not the result U.S. fans were hoping for, but still a great performance by a great champion.

Congratulations to Le Clos and all the medalists!
