Lauren Platt sings 'I'll Be There' on The X Factor UK 2014 (VIDEO)

Lauren Platt sang 'I'll Be There' on The X Factor UK Live Show 5 on November 8, 2014.

Man, oh man. I wanted to like this so much. And I get that she has tonsillitis and all. But I thought this was just okay. The first half is downright wonderful, but as she gets into her upper register during the second half, it got kind of nasally and unpleasant. Again, I think that was probably more to do with being sick than anything else, but if Mel B is going to tell Ben he can't use illness as an excuse, we can't (or, at least, we shouldn't) give Lauren the same pass. Lauren is still one of my favorites though. Despite having a rocky two weeks, I'm hoping she can bounce back and stay in the competition, because she's one of the singers I want to see in the finale. She's capable of far more, with the right song and arrangement.

But what do you think of Lauren Platt?
