Lauren Platt sings 'Flashdance...What A Feeling' on The X Factor UK 2014 (VIDEO)
Lauren Platt sang 'Flashdance...What A Feeling' on The X Factor UK 2014 Live Show 2 on October 18, 2014.
Pre-performance: Lauren is happy with the song she got, which is "What A Feeling" from the movie Flashdance. She feels that the arrangement has moments that allow her to show off exactly the type of singer she wants to be. In addition to rehearsing, she gets to hang out a bit with her friends after inviting them down to the studio. They generally get to mess around and be teenagers, amid all the seriousness of the competition. However, Lauren says that while she may only be 17, she's wanted to be a singer her entire life.
Nick's Thoughts: This starts out nicely enough, but Lauren's voice breaks fairly consistently throughout the rest of the song. It's really a shame, because she has some absolutely lovely runs. Her voice can do terrific things. She's my favorite female vocalist in the competition. In fact, she's one of my favorite vocalists, period.
Judges: Louis says that Lauren was great last week -- and even better this week. Mel B feels Lauren really came into her own tonight, and says that unlike Simon, she can actually praise people in other categories. Simon says Lauren has absolutely delivered the best performance of the night so far, and thinks Cheryl ("Kermit," as he calls her) has given her great songs the past two weeks. Even goes as far as to compare her to Stephanie, saying this is a girl who actually does believe she can win the competition. Cheryl adds her thoughts, "Just two words: simply stunning." Man, my opinion has never differed so much from the judges before, since they apparently found this flawless. That said, I'm glad Lauren is getting heaps of praise, since it means she's very likely safe. And she's one of my favorite contestants in the competition, so that makes me happy.
