'Last Comic Standing' Returning to NBC

Looks like The Sing-Off isn't the only reality competition NBC is bringing back from the dead.
After a four-year hiatus, the network is bringing back Last Comic Standing in the summer of 2014. The series has a fairly tumultuous history with the network. The show launched in 2003, only to be cancelled by NBC in 2004 after just three cycles. However, NBC brought it back in 2006, where it ran until the seventh season in 2010 -- at which point, much like with The Sing-Off, the show was taken off the air without ever being officially cancelled.
No host has been confirmed for season eight, although it wouldn't be hard to imagine the network shelling out the money secure one of the previous hosts such as Jay Mohr, Anthony Clark or Bill Bellamy. But I think it would be kind of cool to see the show offer a nod to its own history and hire one of its former contestants as a host. Maybe Doug Benson, Ralphie May, Amy Schumer, Iliza Shlesinger or Lavell Crawford.
Speaking of well-known stand-up comics, Wanda Sykes will executive produce season eight alongside returning EP Page Hurwitz.
