Larry Wilmore Will Replace Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central
Not that it was a particularly long wait, but the news of Stephen Colbert's replacement in the post-Daily Show timeslot has now been confirmed by Comedy Central.
Daily Show regular Larry Wilmore has been named as host of The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore, which is scheduled to begin airing weeknights at 11:30 PM beginning January 2015. This is due to Stephen Colbert leaving The Colbert Report behind in order to take over Late Show from David Letterman.
The series, created by Daily Show host Jon Stewart, is expected to take “a comedic look at news, current events and pop culture from unique perspectives not typically on display in late night television.” In addition, the series will “feature a diverse panel of voices currently underrepresented in comedy and television.” This more or less lines up with Wilmore's job on The Daily Show as the program's “Senior Black Correspondent,” a role that had him reporting primarily on issues regarding race. It's a role he's had on the show since 2006, not long after The Colbert Report premiered.
So what do you think of Wilmore as Colbert's replacement? Sound off in the comments!
