I have to write something. This blog must not slip away...

I have been rather sensitive to insect bites for the past couple of years. I think that the mosquitos and other biting insects here in New York are particularly aggressive. I did not notice that I was being bitten while I walked by Central Park a few days ago until I looked at my left leg which became swollen all of a sudden. It wasn't that itchy, but I had these bumps sticking out of my leg. It looked like my leg was deformed. Thankfully the swelling has subsided, and I will make sure I carry some Off spray before I venture into the woods.
Last night however, I woke up at 4 am after a felt something odd in my upper lip. I swear I could just feel it growing. I suspected that it was an insect, and when I felt something on my forehead, I just slammed my hand in there. Needless to say I had to look at myself in the mirror and there I was swollen lips and forehead from apparent insect bites. I looked back at my bed and I found the culprit: a mosquito, which by now was dead either through over-eating or by hand-to-forehead impact. I squished the mother-fucker for good measure. So anyway, I am now at work with a now slightly swollen upper lip.

I am really so tired now with all the work that I have been doing. I have been going around the city repairing computers, and it seems that it just doesn't end. Perhaps this is good since I could use the income, but I have not been able to think clearly because of fatigue. Thank God next weekend I will go on a four-day retreat to a Buddhist monastary in upstate New York. I got my "things to bring" list in the mail and now I look forward to it. I'm now thinking of a nice away message to put on my cell phone.
At the end of the month, I will fly to Portland for a friend's wedding. That's also something to look forward to as I will be on vacation for a week. I will also go to Oakland to visit Ralph my high school buddy.
Hopefully, that's enough to rejuvinate me. Unfortunately, I fly back into New York on the second day of the Republican convention. That kinda scares me. But I'm trying not to get too worried.

I have been using my Netflix subscription to good use again, and I'm almost finished with the first season of my favorite Star Trek series, Deep Space Nine. After this, I have six more seasons to go. Gack. But I've been enjoying it really so I try not to think of viewing the entire dvd library as "work" -- although in many ways it is.
The most recent movie I've seen is "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle". It was funny, though it was this close to being racially offensive. You just have to ride with the humor, but some people just can't take this kind of thing. There is one moment that I just found truly hilarious since it happens to me everyday... My favorite songs at the moment are: Chaka Khan's "Through The Fire" and Wilson Phillips' "Hold On". Hahahahaha. I just happen to have them playing on my iPod when I ride the subway. At any rate, "Hold On" has a special moment in White Castle... so I guess I'm not alone in my love for 90's female vocal harmonies.

Fine. Since I've been writing, might as well include the pictures that I've been wanting to post here for a long time now...
Here's Edgar, my favorite UPS delivery guy:

Edgar is great because he always finds time to say hello to you, and also since Amazon normally delivers via UPS, he is always the bearer of good things for me. It's a good feeling to be greeted by your name, which Edgar always does.
(I also like the FedEx Ground crew, but they don't talk much. But I will get their pic too someday. For some reason the FedEx Ground rides in teams of three while the UPS guys are by themselves.)
and Noel, who will watch a Yankee game with me in September together with his brother:
