Lady Gaga Explains Why She Hired Someone to Vomit on Her - VIDEO
You may recall that Lady Gaga was vomited on during her performance of "Swine" at SXSW, an act which angered Demi Lovato, who believed the stunt promoted eating disorders.
Mother Monster has since gone on to explain why she hired the vomit artist in the first place.
As she explained, "We really wanted to do something that was in the spirit of what South by Southwest has always been about, which is creating a real connection between the fans and the artist and the musical experience."
"I’ve known Millie (Brown) [the vomiter] for I think like maybe five years now and we’ve actually collaborated before…she was just in town and so we thought we would collaborate again. It was just exciting to see people talk about performance art on the internet. We really just did it because we believe in the performance and we believe in what it meant to the song."
Lady Gaga also had a few things to say about the music industry as a whole.
Speaking about the poor performance of her album ArtPop, she told the crowd, "The sad part is at some point you have to look at those people who believe in you and say, ‘My talent matters more to me than the money does. What I have to say matters more to me than the money does.’ I would give it all up tomorrow if I had to sell my soul. I will retire from the commercial market if I can’t be myself."
