Lady Gaga Admits That She Was Bankrupt in 2009 - VIDEO
Public opinion has shifted on the once loved Lady Gaga, and perhaps to drum up more sympathy, the singer admitted that she was bankrupt during the height of her fame.
Which may not be enough for people to forgive her non-charitable charity. Or distract from her vomit art, which had many feeling rather icky.
"I had $3 million dollars in the bank to my name and I threw it all in to make my stage," Mother Monster explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly about her 2009 Monster Ball Tour. "So I was bankrupt during the show."
She continued, "I remember I went home and I was with my dad and he said, 'I don't understand. Bad Romance is out. You are all over the radio. Everyone is talking about you and you don't have a pot to piss in."
"I said, 'Just let me do this,'" she went on to explain. "'Let me just put it on the stage because I think if I can do this I can get Arthur Fogel's attention.' And I did."
Fogel is the chairman of Live Nation and after seeing Gaga's $3 million stage show he decided to make the singer a deal.
Concluded Gaga of her change in fortune, "He got Live Nation to write me a $40 million check. It changed my life and the life of my whole family."
