Kyle Massey deeply upset by cancer hoax

On Saturday, a rumor quickly spread on Twitter that Dancing With the Stars alum and That's So Raven! star Kyle Massey had been diagnosed with cancer.

The rumor had apparently been started in May, but quickly dissolved into the online ether, never to be heard again -- until this weekend, when the hoax was resurrected and quickly gained traction on Twitter. In response, Huffington Post is reporting that the 21-year-old Massey has released a statement, assuring his fans that he isn't terminally ill.

“We are not sure where this rumor started, but we would like to put a stop to it immediately,” the statement, released through Massey's rep, read. “This is a very serious disease and he’s upset that someone would make light of such a serious subject. He has been affected personally from the disease as he has had family members who have passed away from cancer.”

Of course, though the hoax is a particularly cruel one, there's a silver lining in all of this: Kyle Massey doesn't actually have cancer. That's a bit of good news in a week that badly needs some. Now if only Kate Middleton would have her baby...
